/in Optimum Carrier, Vineyard /by gmerdanCONNECTED WINEGROWING-WINEMAKING WITH PELLENC CONNECT
The new unique equipment monitoring platform is available for the PELLENC Group’s vineyard and winery machines, making life easier for the user and optimizing the operation of all the equipment.
PELLENC CONNECT also provides users with data about their machines, as well as agronomic and oenological data in real time for greater fluidity and responsiveness. This solution optimizes the organization of operations in the vineyard and the winery and allows the operator to perform the necessary tasks on the machines faster thanks to direct communication via the platform.
PELLENC CONNECT helps users better understand their production and raise their objectives in terms of the final product.
Internet-connected machines
The addition of the OPTIMUM carrier telemetry option enables automatic and secure data feedback from sensors installed on the carrier and the attached tool. The processing of these data on the PELLENC CONNECT CLOUD allows the customer and the distributor to benefit from key information to optimize and streamline the use and monitoring of the machines.
Fleet monitoring
With the telemetry option on the OPTIMUM, monitor your fleet of equipment in real time thanks to the data collected on the carrier and the coupled tool. View remotely on a tablet, PC, or smartphone:
- Locations of the various machines
- Settings of the carrier and the coupled tool
- Maintenance reminders
- Fault codes
You can plan ahead for maintenance and servicing to ensure maximum productivity throughout the year, especially during the harvest season. It also makes it easier to stay on top of things during intensive periods by providing real-time access to the machine settings, the monitoring of the work done, and so on. When the job is finished, statistics such as the number of hours of operation, fuel consumption, and work rate can be checked in the dedicated tab on the PELLENC CONNECT platform.
Remote diagnostics
To ensure fast and efficient customer service, the technicians of our distribution network can remotely access:
- On-board diagnostic information directly from PELLENC CONNECT
- History of fault codes on the machine

Precision vine-growing
With your OPTIMUM multifunction carrier, optimize the monitoring and management of your vineyard using the agronomic data collected in the plots during work.
OPTIMUM lets you generate:
- Yield maps during the harvest
- Plant health maps during pre-pruning
The maps generated make it possible to optimize the potential of the vineyard plots by precisely controlling the following operations: fertilizations, pruning management, irrigation, phytosanitary spraying, replacement of plants, soil analyses, etc.
Yield mapping (PREMIUM weighing option)*
During the harvest, the continuous weighing of the yield harvested in each area of the vineyard makes it possible to obtain a yield map.
With the PREMIUM weighing option, you can also see the quantity of grapes on PELLENC CONNECT:
- Currently in the bins
- Harvested in each plot
*Prerequisite: telemetry unit option.
Plant health mapping**
The map is generated during pre-pruning via the sensor used on VISIO for the automatic opening at the posts on the TLVP pre-pruner.
It also records the number and diameter of the vine shoots.
**Prerequisite: VISIO on TLVP + telemetry unit option.
The PELLENC CONNECT platform strengthens the link between the vineyard and the winery by means of the following services:
- Information sharing to simplify the management of supply flows (e.g. optimizing the filling of tanks and presses)
- Remote monitoring of equipment use
- Remote visualization of the equipment settings in the distribution fleet, as well as diagnostic data
- Visualization of all process information
- Maintenance interval reminders
- Fault alerts
- History of the use of the equipment and the associated settings in order to carry out a technical and economic analysis all the way “from the vineyard to the tank”
PELLENC CONNECT brings peace of mind to users while optimizing their activity: equipment management and monitoring of operations from the vineyard to the winery.
CONNECTED WINEMAKING
Services specific to cold production and temperature control:
- Remote control of the temperature in the tanks
- Display of information on cold production and distribution

Optimum: Multifunction
/in Vineyard /by adminx1Harvest and carry out all your vineyard work
In the mid 1990s, we were looking for solutions to optimize the amortization of our harvesting machines, and in 1996 we bought our first PELLENC multifunction carrier. We were so satisfied that we now own 35 PELLENC carriers, each of which do pre-pruning, spreading, leaf stripping, spraying and harvesting work. Our carriers accomplish 800 h of work per year on average, our investments were quickly amortized. This type of optimal operating rate is achieved by the simple and quick change of tools, which allows us to respond very quickly when it comes to the needs of our customers. Our drivers operate PELLENC carriers all year long in the field. They have perfectly mastered its operation and settings, which means the work gets done fast and the quality is very good! Using a carrier to perform all types of vineyard work also allows us to ensure the sustainability of our customers’ blocks. The large wheels of our carriers drive in the middle of the row, limiting root compaction at the foot of the plant.

QUALITY
- 95 % of the leaf stems* (bigger than 35 mm) eliminated!
- The stems are fully ejected with no fragmentation.
- Near perfect harvest quality.
We’ve got a Pellenc 890, this is our third season running that harvester. We’ve been using machine harvesting and machine harvested fruit for probably 25-30 years now and when they came out with the onboard sorting system, the Selectiv’ Process…that’s what really pushed us towards Pellenc. The fruit that’s coming out of that machine is very very clean there’s hardly any leaves, very few stems, and it can go right in a tank without any further processing once it gets to the winery. For us at Silver Oak that’s really important. One of the factors that caused us to buy a machine to go to machine harvesting is the ability to be able to pick when we want to pick. For us, a day or two later than we want to really makes a huge difference in fruit quality. So being able to pick the amount we want, the time we want and keep on that schedule is really important. We’ve been very satisfied with the quality of the equipment. It’s in three seasons that we’ve been running it, we’ve had just a few minor issues that got straightened out quickly. Can’t say enough about the service department, they do a great job. They’re available 24/7 and we’ve used them a couple of times at all hours of the night. We chose this machine because we think it’s the best in the industry right now.
COST-EFFECTIVE
- De-stemming and sorting is done directly in the vineyard.
- Eliminates storage, transport, waste processing, and cleaning of equipment in the winery.
EFFICIENT
- Capacity of bins completely preserved (sorting table is above the bins).
- Working speed identical to a standard harvesting head (Pellenc or competitors).

Trimmer – Straddle
/in Vineyard /by adminx1Efficiency and a clean cut.
The PELLENC blade trimmer on a straddle tractor is adapted to the requirements of narrow and low vineyards. The PELLENC MULTIVITI chassis for a straddle tractor provides stability, manoeuvrability, performance and the ability to work one or two rows.
Cost-effective
- Reduced front overhang: speed in headland.
- MULTIVITI straddle chassis for topping, pre-pruning or leaf stripping.
Quality
- Belts protected by covers.
- Optimised guidance for the hoses by the lifting chain.
Comfort
- Vertical lift of the cutting modules at the end of the row
- Controls activated over the distributors of the straddle tool, no additional control unit in the cab.
- Hydraulic adjustment of the cutting height.
The word that sums up the PELLENC trimmer on a straddle tractor is ‘practical’! It is very simple to use and intuitive. The hydraulic height and offset adjustment are a real comfort when working. The vertical lift of the cutting elements allows fast and safe manoeuvres even in the most narrow headland. The overhang on the front of the straddle tractor is minimal, the stability of the unit and the life of the equipment is optimised. The construction of the unit is of excellent quality. I appreciate the well-designed guidance of the hydraulic hoses and the slides on rollers of the horizontal beams (hydraulic adjustment of the offset). The trimmer modules and the blades are also very robust. The quality of work is consistent day after day.
